Established in the early 80s, this chain of grocery stores had expanded to every major city throughout the country thanks to its advanced inventory control, electronic ordering systems, and innovative checkout experience.
Challenge
Growth is noisy. That’s why they hired us. As the chain of stores grew in number, the company needed to expand their IT system to better manage digital functionalities and the flow of inventory while maintaining an exceptional customer experience.
Solution
This was a three-parter. See below:
FIRST
Fix the immediate problems by updating the IT system to handle the company’s expanded capabilities and provide tools and training to staff to ensure adoption.
SECOND
Map a digital transformation strategy with the company’s senior leadership: change implementation, timing, expected outcomes.
THIRD
Build an integrated IT solution hub that eventually included a new web engine, content marketing strategy, a mobile app, and the introduction of user experience platform to scale content management, customer communication, and data insights through machine learning.
Results
In just six quarters, the company saw profits soar and employee retention increase. The chain was able to further expand into new territories and gain market share thanks to strong senior leadership, a seamless digital infrastructure, and its partnership with SYGNL.
